Aaron,

I think you’re doing an amazing job with SNguide. I love the logo and the layout – it’s very clearly organized. In terms of writing for the web, I think you understood the logistics of it and therefore I think you have an adequate style(really engaging)I am really looking forward to se the final version of your website and using it, and I have some suggestions.

Competition:

I believe that one of SNguide’s strong competitors is going to be www.Alexa.com which is a traffic monitoring website. Their ranking system is quite advanced and complex and I think it would be a useful inspiration source. I am not sure about copyrights, but I would research if you are allowed to use their data on SNguide in your ranking system.

Content:

People like photos on a website, I know I do. They can sometimes express more than words do. I would put some screenshots of the websites being ranked, at least the top ones. I think this way people could understand concepts specific to one site better, they can visualize them.

I would also organize contests between websites – Social Networking Awards 20XX. This way SNguide could gain value through the websites that are going to participate in this competition. Let’s suppose Facebook is going to win the award for Social Networking website of the year. They will definitely want to make that information known to the public and they will mention SNguide on their website. Thus traffic on your website will increase due to the indirect advertising on their website. More traffic – more on SNguide more incoming revenue from the advertisers.

Extras

I would also incorporate a daily news system about the Social Networking websites. The data in the news could be complied form the large media corporations and presented in the form of links on SNguide or in the form of a short summary. The first alternative has the advantage of 0% human work. The second one would be more appealing to the public who would prefer to read a page of summary and not the whole articles. This would require though a person who would compile the data.
