Topic: Stanford Technology Review
Site:
http://dougt.stanford.edu/stanfordtech/Site/Archive/Archive.html _Pros:_
-I like the simpleness of the site—I think it’ll lend itself well to high-tech products
-The idea is tried and true
-Stick to the mac theme—too many reviewing sites are all over the place, I think it is a good idea to specialize your reviews and niche market
_Cons:_
-What makes your reviews any different than anybody else’s? Do you plan to do something different that will grab your audience and keep them coming back?
-How do you plan on getting the hardware to review?
-At the moment the site is a bit hard to navigate, can we devise a better browsing system
_Suggestions:_
-Perhaps you could concentrate on things that are available in the Stanford Bookshop (after all, the site is geared for them)
-Maybe include a forum (try phpbb)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpbb/ -The forum could be tech trading for Stanford students or something like a wiki-review
-check out Tom’s Hardware:
http://www.tomshardware.com/ its gotten fairly commercial, but it is considered one of the best review sites as far as the PC industry goes
-Are you going to go more for technical aspects? Mac aesthetics? Specifics for Student needs?
-I’d like to see a section about what special deals/prices that students can get
-I think you’ve found a good niche in the market for a Mac-centered Tech Review
-There doesn’t seem to be very many Mac Review sites (
http://macreviewzone.com/index.php,
http://www.macworld.com/, etc… don’t do it for me…)
